BESTbelt enters its third and final round: the 3rd Call for Proposals is open!
You want to support the development of the European Green Belt as Europe’s longest green network? The 3rd BESTbelt Call for Proposals offers the opportunity to hand in your project ideas for conservation, restoration, or environmental education along the European Green Belt. Unlocking the potential for peaceful cooperation along the former Iron Curtain and the protection and sustainable use of highly valuable natural habitats spanning the length of the European continent is key to BESTbelt. By connecting across and despite national borders, we can preserve nature along the European Green Belt and maintain Europe’s biodiversity.
In order to promote even more such activities, the European Commission is allocating € 3.49 million to BESTbelt between 2021 and 2026. All this is possible thanks to the support of Members of the European Parliament, namely Jutta Paulus and Nicolae Ștefănuță. One of the key elements of BESTbelt is the small grant scheme. Under this scheme, € 2,200,000 are available for three Calls for Proposals and for projects, that offer long-term, sustainable prospects for local actors along the European Green Belt. The 3rd BESTbelt Call for Proposals is open until 04 March 2024! Interested applicants are invited to apply for funding in the areas of biodiversity conservation, restoration, ecological connectivity, sustainable development, environmental education, and green jobs. Applicants can apply for a small grant up to € 40,000. Project ideas that include a specific and strong focus on transboundary cooperation can apply for funding up to € 60,000. Applications must be submitted by email to the BESTbelt Office (bestbelt(at)europeangreenbelt.org) by 23:59 Central European Time on 04 March 2024.
