Despite complex political relationships, the Tripoint brown bear (TBB) - project and its partners established a transboundary protection network over the past two years.

Increasing wildfires in Europe also affect the European Green Belt. A recent study developed by a research team from Wageningen University & Research University investigates the presence of fire in rewilding and eco-restoration areas and the awareness of local people in such areas. The research team will use the results to investigate whether such areas can be classified as fire resilient landscapes.

The final workshop of the project “Enhancing Connectivity Along the Balkan Green Belt” took place end of 2023 in Rrajcë, Albania. The workshop was an opportunity for project participants to exchange on challenges and achievements and develop ideas for future intensification of cross-border cooperation in the pilot area of Jablanica-Shebenik.

In the frame of BESTbelt, an intensive training on the implementation of European Green Belt Youth Work Camps will take place in February 2024.
